Dietary Services

The Dietary Department’s main priority is to assure that patients receive the best nutritional care possible. This includes patients on regular diets, on special or modified diets, on tube feeding, or receiving nourishment. We intend to provide safe and appropriate food services to all patients, staff, and visitors.

Your daily schedule in the hospital will be arranged to best meet our mutual goals and your return to good health. Our health care team is here to serve you and carry out your physician's plan for your recovery. Please ask questions at any time about your schedule and treatment. The Staff will be happy to explain tests, procedures and other aspects of your care so that your hospital stay will be as pleasant and beneficial as possible.

Mt. San Rafael Hospital is pleased to offer the Patient Choice Program. This innovative service system allows more choice in your meal selections. Our hope is to provide meals that will not only meet your needs, but also your preferences.

Once your physician prescribes a diet to meet your medical needs, and it is entered in the system, Dietary Services will receive this order. A menu will be chosen to meet the prescribed diet order, and a member of our friendly dietary staff will visit with you to obtain your selections. Patient meals are carefully planned and prepared by our dietary staff. Each day, the patient receives a menu tailored to the type of diet ordered by his/her physician. Trained staff may visit the patient to discuss any special dietary restrictions. Please check with your nurse before eating foods brought in by family or friends.

Our meals are prepared using the freshest ingredients available.

When an order is not place, a pre-selected meal will be sent, according to your diet specifications.

Meals for patients are served at the following times:

· Breakfast
· Lunch
· Dinner

We encourage family members to assist in placing orders for patients who are unable to do so by visiting with our dietary staff.

”If the patient tries to order something that's off-limits, we can educate them on a choice that might be more appropriate," said Victor Agena director of food and nutrition at the hospital.
